Bangkok Halloween Street Photography

It is no secret that Halloween, which originated from an ancient Celtic celebration called Samhain, is celebrated all across the globe nowadays. It is also no surprise that for many people it is just another occasion to party and get drunk, and there are few places in the world more (in-) famous for such crowds than the Khao San Road, the backpacker street in Bangkok, Thailand. While I would typically avoid such places I knew it would offer a great street photography opportunity. Although a little too crowded, and way too loud thanks to all the clubs blasting horrible party remixes it was certainly an experience seeing people in costumes from all over the world trying to avoid stepping on each others foots or getting bumped into by other drunks. Equipped with my Leica and a flash I tried to capture this mix of tradition, consumption and smartphone culture.
